On her seventh birthday Roselupin receives a mysterious gift with her name on it. It is a golden box filled with balls of different color yarns.The message: KNIT WHAT YOU WANT
Thus begins the liberation of Roselupin from the confines of her locked tower where she has been kept by her father who fears that the world is far too wild and dangerous a place. I won't give away the ending, but suffice it to say that this story has all the elements of a true feminist fable. This is in my top 25 favorite books of all time. I recently found it remaindered at Daedalus Books
a place I discovered early in my graduate school days when it was just a small warehouse with stacks of books and clerks on rollerskates.

Miss Pea- did you go to ComiCon and eat burgers & cupcakes???? I will not soon forget hearing Daniel Pinkwater read "The Red Woldf" aloud on NPR one day several years ago. What a wondrous tale!!! Glad to see you blogging - can't wait to see what treasures you will share.
